Well, hi sports fans!  We’re back with another installment of...‘How are they not tired of each other yet?’

Same adorable cast of characters.  Same steel horse we ride.  Maine to California.

Little Sebago Lake

Though, we’re embarking on this adventure at a slight disadvantage as we are all at some stage of decrepit illness ranging from “out of the woods” to “Kill me, Jerry.”

Steven is nearly over his congestion and cough, David is on his last day of antibiotics for a bout with pneumonia, Nancy flat-out refuses to get sick, and I will be dragged behind the Volvo on a travois.

Traveling a different route from the previous few journeys, we’ll be about nine days on the Sherman Oaks Trail.

As we burn through the Northeast into the Midwest, we’ll hop a Lake Michigan ferry to propel us out through the prairies and The Badlands to discover all The Black Hills have to offer.  Eventually, we’ll shoot past Arches, through Monument Valley, along the Grand Canyon and re-enter the world.

As this is not our first rodeo together, there is an acquiescence of understanding as to what each individual needs to maintain the balance; the harmony. It’s not as tasking as it may sound, rather it is a privilege to get to know your friends with deep respect and familiarity.

However…

The decree of “no loose items allowed in the vehicle” remains a strict mandate verbally enforced with fervor by the lady of the front seat.

All I can say is I bought a can of the good Luxardo Maraschino Cherries that these lightweights didn’t finish and my babies. will. find. their. way. home.

Irrespective…David and I are so thankful to have been included in another long Maine summer.

We’ve brought in the boats, tidied up the camp, and have eaten our way out of the fridge.

The temperature has recently dropped, the wind has picked up, and we have reached peak fall foliage season (in another life, this was called soccer season).

Join us as we hit the road tomorrow!  Let’s see what’s out there.
